Hana Stuck on Thinking (No Updates)

Use this guide if Hana replies with only Thinking and then nothing else appears.

What You Will See​

  • You mention or invoke Hana in Google Chat.
  • Hana shows Thinking.
  • The message does not update.
  • No further reply appears from Hana in that thread.

Why This Happens​

Your Google Workspace setting may be blocking users from installing Chat apps.

When this setting is off, Hana cannot continue posting updates in the chat thread.

How to Fix It (Workspace Admin)​

  1. Go to admin.google.com
  2. Open Apps -> Google Workspace -> Google Chat
  3. Turn on Allow users to install
  4. Click Save

After the Change​

  1. Wait a moment for policy changes to apply.
  2. Return to the same Google Chat space.
  3. Invoke Hana again.
  4. Confirm Hana now posts a normal response instead of staying on Thinking.

If It Still Does Not Work​

  • Confirm the setting is enabled in the correct Workspace admin account.
  • Try again from the same space where the issue happened.
  • If your organization has strict app policies, ask the admin to verify Hana is allowed for users.
