Memory Ingestion and Recall

Current Behavior

Automatic chat ingestion is not currently enabled by default.

If you want persistent knowledge from chats, use explicit memory ingestion paths:

  • Add a Google Chat Space memory batch (history ingestion or auto-tracking).
  • Add structured memories from the dashboard (Docs, Drive, PDFs, URLs, text, etc.).

What Is Automatic

Even without automatic chat ingestion, Hana can automatically:

  • Retrieve relevant context from already-ingested memories.
  • Blend memory context with active chat context while answering.
  • Prioritize recent/relevant memory chunks for response quality.

Use dashboard memory modules to keep organizational context durable and reliable:

  • Google Doc memory
  • Google Drive memory
  • PDF memory
  • Recursive URL memory
  • Text memory
  • Google Chat Space memory

Google Chat Space as Memory

For chat-derived persistent memory, add the target space as a memory source:

  • Static history ingestion for a defined time window.
  • Auto-tracking for ongoing periodic ingestion.

Quality Guidance

  • Keep memory batches focused by domain/project.
  • Remove stale or contradictory memories periodically.
  • Use clear memory titles and use-case instructions.
  • Prefer explicit memory updates for critical policy/process changes.
